During the Olympic and Paralympic Games,
Hotel available for Quarantine may become very few around Tokyo.

Due to the influence of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics scheduled for July 23-August 8 and August 24-September 5, 2021, hotels, accommodations, and pick-up services around Tokyo will be mostly used by Olympic & media officials and volunteers.

Therefore, many famous hotels around Tokyo that have accepted Quarantine-stay until June have changed their policy not to accept the Quarantine stay in July and August. It means to get a good accommodation for Quarantine is difficult for July and August, though we will do our best to introduce you to good accommodation.

The Japanese government’s guidelines for quarantine measures at the time of entry strictly prohibit immigrants and returnees from using public transportation in Japan for 14 days after arrival. It means, after arriving on by an international flight, you cannot transfer to a domestic flight to move to another place in Japan.

Once you enter Japan, you have to move from the arrival international airport to the place where you will stay for quarantine by family transfer or contracted limousine service (airport transfer service) arranged by yourself in advance.

Therefore, if you enter Japan from Haneda Airport / Narita Airport, you will inevitably have to Quarantine-stay in the area near Haneda / Narita Airport, that is around Tokyo, but for the Olympic & Paralympic period, the situation is as mentioned.
So, we would like to recommend to consider to quarantine in the other area in Japan, for example, arriving at Kansai International Airport and stay in Osaka. If you do so, even though the flight is a little less but the accommodation is better, or cost is cheaper, and after quarantine period, you can also have a day trip to Kyoto, Nara etc. with extra 1 or 2 nights stay.

Why don’t you stay for Quarantine period in Osaka?

Instead arriving at Haneda / Narita International Airport, if you use Kansai International Airport (KIX) and stay of Quarantine in Osaka city, you may still save the total cost for Quarantine. Once end your quarantine period, you will have much more options for domestic transportation to your destination. You may not need to stick to arriving to Haneda/Narita.
